A Year in Review with Flourishes

Hello everyone,

Today, I am over on the Flourishes blog revisiting one of my favourite cards that I created in the past year with one of my favourite Flourishes stamp sets, Winter Blooms.

Let’s take a look:

Here is a close-up:pinkpoinsettia-5-edited

I just LOVE the poinsettia image from the Winter Blooms set. It is so beautiful and perfect for a traditional Christmas card. Here, I used it in a less traditional way which is one of the reasons that it is a favourite. I love the graphic pop of the hot pink on the white background. The poinsettias were coloured using Copic markers and the centres of the flowers were embellished using tiny gold beads to add a special touch.

Here is what the stamp set looks like:

Such a beautiful set designed by Beverly Cole – I know I will be using this set for years to come!

Anyway, thank you for visiting – I hope you enjoyed your stay!

Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Under the Mistletoe

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

This week,  Rebecca has challenged the team members to create an Interactive project.

Let’s take a look at what I came up with (warning, this post is photo-heavy):

Let’s take a closer look at the details…

Finally, let’s take a look at how I made it interactive…

undermistletoe-4-edited

I have to admit that making interactive projects is not a strong-point of mine, by any means. So, I decided to take the simple route. I created a pocket on my card front which houses a removable tag with a hidden message on it, “MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE”. The poinsettia image is from Year of Flowers 3 and I coloured it using Copic Markers and then cut-out the image and popped it up on my tag. To embellish the tag, I used a sentiment tab sticker from the same collection as the patterned paper which is by Teresa Collins from a couple of years back…to polish it all off, I added some of my favourite gold twine and several red jewels.

Flourishes Free for All Friday Blog Hop – Red as Poppies

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

I hope all of you in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving, yesterday, with your loved ones.

This week, I have challenged the team to make their projects Red as Poppies in honour of Veteran’s Day or Remembrance Day, here, in Canada, which we observed two weeks ago.

Let’s take a look at what I came up with:

poppy-2-edited

I used the poppy image from Year in Flowers 2. This image was coloured using Copic Markers and then cut-out using Flourishes Tailor-Made Classic Hourglass Die Set (a personal favourite). The sentiment is from Bushel of Thanks. This was then mounted over some adorable polkadot patterned paper by October Afternoon. Next, I matted this in black and attached it to my card base. Finally, I embellished my card very simply using some black enamel dots and some metallic tinsel cord (another favourite).

Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Pastel Colours

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

This week, Rebecca has challenged the team to use pastel colours.

Let’s take a look at my project:

bloom-edited bloom-2-edited bloom-3-edited

I stamped the image from Year in Flowers 3. The image was coloured using Copic markers. I always choose my patterned papers first, then I match my markers to the paper. I used some cute springtime papers from Simple Stories. The frame was die-cut using Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die Set. I then wrapped some gold twine around the frame and secured it with a simple bow. The image was popped up over the frame and then adhered over a paper doily. Last, I added some sentiment stickers and some white enamel dots. This was then attached to the card base and voila!

The image was coloured using Copic markers then cut it out and mounted it over a die-cut frame using foam tape. I then mounted this onto some plaid Christmas paper and embellished with some silver metallic twine. The sentiment is from an older Flourishes stamp set.

Flourishes Release Day 5 – Christmas Sentiments

Hello and welcome to Day 5 of the Flourishes LC Release for October!

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, please see the Blog Hop List below to start from the beginning.

Today, we are showcasing Christmas Sentiments, a fabulous set designed by Beverly Cole.

Here is my project:

holiday-edited

holiday-2-edited holiday-3-edited

For the main image, I used the Year of Flowers 3 set. I just LOVE poinsettias for Christmas and this one is beautiful with the greenery! I then popped this up on a die-cut frame which was cut using Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die Set and sponged with Distress Ink in Old Paper (my absolute favourite colour of Distress Ink). This was then popped up over some plaid patterned paper using foam tape. Next I added the sentiment strips. Finally, I added my favourite gold twine and some white enamel dots around the poinsettia image.
