Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Pastel Colours

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

This week, Rebecca has challenged the team to use pastel colours.

Let’s take a look at my project:

I stamped the image from Year in Flowers 3. The image was coloured using Copic markers. I always choose my patterned papers first, then I match my markers to the paper. I used some cute springtime papers from Simple Stories. The frame was die-cut using Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die Set. I then wrapped some gold twine around the frame and secured it with a simple bow. The image was popped up over the frame and then adhered over a paper doily. Last, I added some sentiment stickers and some white enamel dots. This was then attached to the card base and voila!

The image was coloured using Copic markers then cut it out and mounted it over a die-cut frame using foam tape. I then mounted this onto some plaid Christmas paper and embellished with some silver metallic twine. The sentiment is from an older Flourishes stamp set.

For the main image, I used the Year of Flowers 3 set. I just LOVE poinsettias for Christmas and this one is beautiful with the greenery! I then popped this up on a die-cut frame which was cut using Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die Set and sponged with Distress Ink in Old Paper (my absolute favourite colour of Distress Ink). This was then popped up over some plaid patterned paper using foam tape. Next I added the sentiment strips. Finally, I added my favourite gold twine and some white enamel dots around the poinsettia image.

Flourishes Release Day 4 – Hanukkah

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of the Flourishes LC Release for October!

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, please see the Blog Hop List below to start from the beginning.

Today, we are showcasing Hanukkah, a new set designed by Beverly Cole.

Here is what I came up with:

For this card, I just stamped the Star of David image and cut it out and popped it up on my tag. Other than that, it was just a lot of layering of patterned papers, from an older Teresa Collins paper collection. The sentiment was a combination of patterned paper and block letter stickers. I added some silver twine and some ribbon to embellish.

Flourishes Release Day 3 – Go Tell It On The Mountain

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Flourishes LC Release for October!

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, please see the Blog Hop List below to start from the beginning.

Today, we are showcasing Got Tell It On The Mountain, a stamp set designed by Lauren Pope.

Let’s take a look at my project:

I really let the image take centre stage on this card. Being the kind of image that it is, I thought it suiting to make a card for someone going through a difficult time – just to let them know I am keeping them in my thoughts. It is such a detailed image that I didn’t think that it needed to be coloured. I stamped the image onto Rustic Cream card stock using Versafine Black Onyx Ink to get the most detailed impression possible. I then matted the main image in black and layered it overtop of some patterned papers. The sentiment is from an older Flourishes stamp set. Finally, I added some black hemp twine and some jewels to complete my project.

Flourishes Release Day 2 – Elf-N-Christmas and Jester-Diamond Background

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the Flourishes LC Release for October!

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, please see the Blog Hop List below to start from the beginning.

Today, we are showcasing two new stamp sets, Elf-N-Christmas and Jester-Diamond Background.

Now, onto my project…

elf-3-edited elf-2-edited

I really had a lot of fun putting this card together with all of the layering of different elements. I coloured the little elf using Copic Markers. The background was stamped using the Jester-Diamond Background and then cut out using the Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die Set. For the patterned paper, I used a collection from Simple Stories and the elements are all from the matching sticker sheet. After everything was layered together how I wanted, I attached the card front to the base and added some silver twine and a few red gems to finish it off.

Flourishes October Release Day 1 – Year of Flowers

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of the Flourishes LC Release for October!

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, you are in the right place. If not, please see the Blog Hop List below to start from the beginning.

Today, we are showcasing three new stamp sets, Year of Flowers 1, Year of Flowers 2, and Year of Flowers 3. These beautiful floral stamp sets were all designed by the lovely Beverly Cole.

Here is what I created:

mum-edited mum-2-edited

I decided to feature Year of Flowers 3, using the mum image. I coloured the image using Copic Markers and fussy-cut the image out. I then cut a piece of patterned paper using Flourishes Tailor-made Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames Die Set. I then stamped the sentiment from Fall Tree using a navy blue ink. Next, I traced the outline of the Classic Frames die so that I could mat the sentiment frame. This was then layered over some other patterned papers and attached to the card base. Finally, I embellished with some gold twine and some gold glitter enamel dots.

Here is a peek of what the stamp set looks like:

I love all three stamp sets and know that these are sets that I’ll be coming back to frequently.

Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Get Sentiment-al!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

This week, Linda has challenged the team to ‘Get Sentiment-al’.

Let’s take a look at my project:

Here’s a closer look:

pinkpoinsettia-3-edited

And an even closer look (LOL):

pinkpoinsettia-5-edited

I decided to do something a little different, this time and created something a little more CAS than my usual style. I stamped the poinsettia image from Winter Blooms multiple times over my card stock panel using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then coloured the poinsettias using Copic Markers in a fuchsia colour. I usually am not a big fan of pink (unless for a baby girl) but, I just LOVE how the poinsettias turned out! Something a little different than I’d usually go for and it creates such amazing graphic POP with the black outlines and the white background! However, I still wanted to let the sentiment take centre stage so, I stamped the sentiment, which is from Christmas Classics, onto piece of vellum using Versamark and heat-embossed in gold. Then, I cut the sentiment out using a flag die. By embossing the sentiment in gold and by making the poinsettia panel a sort of background, I think I was able to make the sentiment stand out. After attaching the sentiment flag, I added some tiny gold beads to the centres of the poinsettias for extra detail and interest. Finally, I attached the panel to my card base and added a touch of my favourite embellishment – gold twine!

Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Patterned Paper

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

First, I’d like to welcome Barb Thompson to the Flourishes Family! Barb has joined us on the Senior Design Team and I can’t wait to see what she creates using Flourishes stamps!

This week, Tricia has challenged the team to use patterned paper.

Well, to be honest…I very rarely make a card without using patterned paper so, this was a breeze for me! I used Bushel of Thanks, again…it’s a new favourite and up here in Canada, our Thanksgiving is this coming Monday so, it seemed appropriate.
Let’s take a look at what I made:

carrots-2-edited

Here’s a closer look:

I think it’s safe to say that I have found a new favourite in Bushel of Thanks! I love fall and this set that Bev has designed for Flourishes is simply gorgeous! I stamped the image in memento ink and coloured it in using Copic Markers. Since this card is quite simple, I think the rest is pretty self-explanatory so, I will not get into all of the details on how it was made.

Flourishes Friday Blog Hop – Fall Colours

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Flourishes Friday Blog Hop. This week, Bev has challenged the team to use Fall Colours.

If you have arrived from Linda’s blog, then you are in the right place. If not, please head on over to the Flourishes Blog to start from the beginning.

Well, I don’t know about you but, I LOVE fall colours and I had the perfect stamp set to use for this challenge, Bushel of Thanks!
Let’s take a look at what I made:

bushelthanks-2-edited

I stamped the image onto Flourishes Classic White Card Stock using black ink then coloured the image using Copic markers and fussy-cut the image out. I then die-cut a brown plaid mat using Flourishes Tailor-made Perfectly Pierced Victorian Oval die and wrapped some cream and gold twine around the mat a few times before tying it in a bow. I then popped the main image up onto the mat using foam tape. Next, I stamped the sentiment and cut out the words in strips which were attached so that they were peeking out from behind the maid image. Last, I popped this up onto a plaid background which had been matted using the brown plaid patterned paper (leaving a 1/16th” border) and mounted it onto a white card base.
